LESLEY HAMPTON x AANIIN: Spring '23

Written by Astrid Superstar

Indigenous fashion mogul Lesley Hampton has teamed up with Aaniin Retail Inc., a Canadian fashion and lifestyle brand, for Fashion Art Toronto’s upcoming season.

Both designers share a passion for highlighting the beauty and richness of Indigenous culture through fashion. Together, they hope to create a collection that not only showcases Indigenous art and design, but also raises awareness about the challenges they face.

Lesley Hampton is an Anishinaabe and Mohawk designer who has gained a reputation for her innovative approach to inclusivity in fashion. Her designs often incorporate traditional Indigenous elements alongside modern techniques and materials. Since her brand’s launch, she has dressed celebrities for a smattering of exclusive red carpet events, and has shown in the fashion weeks of Milan, London, and of course, Toronto.

Founded by Chelsee-Marie Pitt, Aaniin (which means “hello” in the Ojibwe language Anishaabemowin) is a brand that creates sustainable and ethically-conscious clothing inspired by Indigenous culture and spirituality. The label has collaborated with numerous other creatives through their collections under Aaniin X, and is opening a boutique in Toronto’s shipping-container-constructed STACKT Market later this summer.

As a superstar of the Fashion Art Toronto stage, Lesley Hampton’s shows are always guaranteed to impress. We know that this season will be no different.

Lesley Hampton x Aaniin Retail Inc. will show Thursday, April 27th at 7 pm at the Black Creek Assembly. Tickets are available now!
